President Alberto Fernández took advantage this Friday of the inauguration of the new departure terminal at Ezeiza Airport, which includes the famous "Zeppelin", to once again defend the role of the State in the management of Aerolíneas Argentinas while urging not to get carried away by "the doomsayers of discouragement".

And he affirmed:

"Let the least amount of Argentines leave here, because there are no dollars left over."

"We want citizens of the world to arrive here, and for Argentines to go out to see the world, in this time - in which we live - as few as possible because we don't have excess dollars, but those who can enjoy the world, and that they can find this reception door, which is a marvelous door," said Fernández, acknowledging the flight of foreign currency generated by tourism and that despite so many attempts the government has not been able to stop it.

Together with the Minister of Transportation, Diego Giuliano, the president once again focused on the measures adopted by the Government during the coronavirus pandemic to encourage tourism and support Aerolíneas Argentinas.

And in this sense, he pointed out that compared to those who argued that the flag carrier "was a black box, where everything was lost", at present "it is a company that becomes profitable and hopefully it needs less and less requirements from the State We have to stop lying to ourselves."

It was thus that he recalled the support that Angela Merkel, in Germany, gave from the German government "so that Lufthansa does not die."

"Everywhere, the States put money to maintain the airlines and that is not bad, it is good! It is bad to let them be founded", emphasized Alberto Fernández, adding that Argentina should not be allowed to be disconnected from the world.

"If there is something that we should not be disconnected from the world," he stressed.

"Argentina is experiencing a time of growth, of development, difficult because soy has complicated our economy, but we continue to have a formidable future. Let's not get carried away

by the doomsayers of discouragement, who try to discourage us every day, they Let them stay with their despondency

."

the President conveyed.

He also urged "to end the discussion between businessmen on the one hand and the State on the other," and affirmed that the country needs these fields to associate "to carry out initiatives that benefit Argentines."

"The works are not from a government; they are from the Argentines. What does it matter who started it, the important thing is to finish it and make it a reality," he said at the inauguration of the new departure terminal at Ezeiza International Airport, which will double its operational capacity. up to 30 million passengers per year.

Fernández was accompanied by the president of Aeropuertos 2000, Martín Eurnekian, and by the creator of that company, Eduardo Eurnekian, whom he praised for his "entrepreneurial strength."

"(The country) needs a lot of these Argentine businessmen who are the ones who invest, provide work and make the country grow, without forgetting those who need the most and those who are neglected," said Fernández, highlighting the figure of the businessman who led Aeropuertos 2000 for several decades.

Referring to the new terminal, the president pointed out that it is the "largest in Latin America" and said that it is a "pride" for Argentines.

"It is a work that we did not start, it suffered vicissitudes. It was paralyzed for economic reasons and we are not surprised. 70% of the public works were paralyzed for economic reasons. But we, unlike others, did not stop the works. The works that were needed, no matter who started them, the important thing was to finish them," he said.

In this regard, Minister Giuliano stressed that "this work began during another government administration and was interrupted for economic reasons and a work accident. Many times it has happened that they are later abandoned or destroyed, but we did the opposite."

The new terminal will allow "reassigning spaces currently dedicated to departure flows for arrivals, as well as facilitating the expansion of the migration, baggage claim and customs control sectors for a more efficient operation," it was reported in a statement.

The building, which is developed on three levels, has a frontage of 230 meters and has a total area of 50,000 square meters.

Meanwhile, it has a basement for operational areas for baggage handling with state-of-the-art automated and control systems.

The work is completed with a new multilevel car park with 700 parking spaces with an autoguided system and connected to the new terminal.
