The mayor of Chartres Jean-Pierre Gorges (LR) has been indicted for abuse of authority, after the complaint of a subsidiary of the real estate company Klépierre in the context of a sale of a shopping center, said Friday the Nanterre public prosecutor's office, requested by AFP.
Jean-Pierre Gorges has been prosecuted since March 22 for "
abuse of authority by taking effective measures against the execution of the law by a person holding public authority
", an offense punishable by ten years in prison. imprisonment, the prosecution said.
Administrative procedures
The former director general of the services of the city of Chartres, Bernard Orts, has meanwhile been indicted for complicity.
The Nanterre public prosecutor's office had been seized under its regional economic and financial pole, following a complaint filed in 2018 by the company Klecar France, a subsidiary of Klépierre, one of the main players in commercial real estate in Europe.

The investigation, entrusted to the territorial management of the judicial police of Orléans, gave rise to the opening of a judicial investigation on December 27, 2022. Jean-Pierre Gorges and Orts were placed in police custody on March 21 and placed in review the next day.
