The Nuremberg Health Department recommends wearing an FFP2 mask outdoors.
This was announced by the city of Nuremberg in a press release.
Nuremberg - With the beginning of spring, the hay fever season begins again for many people.
In Germany, every fifth person is affected by a pollen allergy.
The Nuremberg Health Department therefore advises those affected to wear a mask outdoors.
These are an effective protection against the allergy-causing particles.
This applies not only to FFP2 masks, but also to masks made in-house.

Climate change worsens the situation for those affected - Nuremberg advises wearing a mask
Hay fever is a disease caused by flowering trees and shrubs.
Those affected already feel the first symptoms at the beginning of the flowering period.
The temperatures do not necessarily have to be high.
Initially, hazelnut and birch, later in the spring pollen from ash, hornbeam, poplar and willow as well as cypress cause symptoms in allergy sufferers.
The symptoms range from a runny nose and watery eyes to exhaustion and shortness of breath.
Climate change also extends the flowering season of plants and thus also the concentration of pollen in the atmosphere.
Hay fever: Mask can reduce symptoms
By covering the mouth and nose with a mask, the amount of pollen that is inhaled can be significantly reduced and the associated nasal and bronchial symptoms can also be reduced, according to Professor Dr.
Karl-Christian Bergmann, head of the interdisciplinary pneumological outpatient clinic at the Allergy Center Charité Berlin.
It is important to cover your mouth and nose well with the mask.
However, there is no 100% protection because the eyes would still be affected.
However, the mask acts like a mechanical barrier to which the allergens stick.
The PID Foundation (Pollen Information Service) provides up-to-date information on the pollen load.
