About 147,199 Holocaust survivors and victims of anti-Semitic harassment during the Holocaust live in Israel today, compared to 165,800 last year.

This is according to the data of the Central Bureau of Statistics published today (Sunday) in preparation for the Day of Remembrance for the Holocaust and Heroism in Israel, which will be observed starting tomorrow evening. The CBS also published the findings of the survey they conducted about the situation of the Holocaust survivors in Israel and the situation of the Jews in Israel and in the world.

According to the latest CBS data for the end of 2022, 61% of all Holocaust survivors are women and 39% are men. About 38% of the survivors were born during World War II (aged 77-83), about 40% of the total survivors aged 89- 84, and the other 22% are over 90. 50% of all Holocaust survivors are widowed, 37.7% of them are married, 10.3% are divorced and about 2% are single.

The data was taken from the Authority for the Rights of Holocaust Survivors, which also recognizes the status of the Iraqi residents who were present at the Farhud events in June 1941, and the residents of Morocco and Algeria who experienced restrictions on employment and place of residence during the Vichy regime - and were exposed to the Nazi regime.
