“Today I am a woman and a fulfilled mother”: the beautiful story of Mélodie after “Married at first sight”

2023-04-17T12:25:45.628Z

INTERVIEW – Participant of the fourth season of the romance program broadcast in early 2020 on M6, the Lyonnaise confides in the impact of a television experience which had not been easy.

Mélodie

's year 2019

had been particularly eventful, marked, on the one hand, by the filming of her experience in season 4 of

"Married at first sight"

and, on the other hand, by the death of her little sister.

Estimated to be 74% compatible with Adrien, a 31-year-old financial adviser at the time, the Lyonnaise needed time to trust him and establish a real bond.

During the assessment in front of the experts of the show, Estelle Dossin and Pascal de Sutter, the couple had recorded their decision to divorce.

During an interview carried out in March 2020, Mélodie told us that she had a good meeting after the filming.

“He is someone who, without knowing me, naturally knew how to behave with me and understand me

, she told us.

I found myself opening up to him fairly quickly.

Pascal de Sutter's advice helped me a lot to get there.

LE FIGARO.

- Looking back, was your participation in “Married at First Sight” a positive experience?

Melody.

-

My opinion is mixed.

This experience really allowed me to work on my letting go and my height gain.

I left my romantic destiny in the hands of experts and I trusted science to find me a compatibility when I am usually very down to earth.

In the end, my biggest failure was not my story, which ended in a divorce, but the fact of having placed my trust in a production team that played on my image with the main desire to attract audiences.

What upset you the most?

My disappointment was to discover a completely oriented assembly.

Invented scenes like that of the dance during the wedding banquet (the scene broadcast in "Married at first sight" led one to think, wrongly, that Mélodie pushed Adrien away during this dance, editor's note), moments of my experience shown in the disorder in order to follow a scenario decided by the production… I have the feeling, even today, that it was not my story that was broadcast but indeed their story.

We discovered the images of our experience at the same time as the viewers and, with hindsight, I better understand why.

How did the story of your experience leave you feeling?

My story was told by the production which highlighted only part of my personality and my experience.

During the broadcast of my adventure, some candidates from previous seasons secretly told me that they too were disappointed with the editing.

Others, moreover, have expressed their satisfaction with the dissemination of their experiences.

I can't help but think that some stories - the ones that "work" - are aired almost as is in order to prove the truth of the concept to viewers, while others are totally oriented for the sole purpose of making ratings.

After all, in reality TV, buzz is a recipe that works.

“I do not regret my participation in the show”

Mélodie, candidate for season 4 of "Married at first sight"

Did you have trouble recovering from this experience?

No.

The broadcast period of the show was the most difficult for me.

In view of what was broadcast about me, I had to face an avalanche of criticism and insults on social networks.

I even feared that some people might have virulent reactions to me in everyday life.

Finally, the people who called out to me in the street were all very benevolent and pleasant.

It helped me to take a lot of height on the animosity of some people, who take advantage of being behind their screens to show wickedness.

I very quickly put things into perspective, telling myself that the most important thing was that the people around me know who I really am.

For candidates having trouble recovering from this experience, I think that

Do you regret having participated in “Married at first sight”?

Despite my disappointment with the production and editing of my experience, I do not regret my participation in the show.

It was a unique opportunity to try to find love in an atypical way.

Even if the result was not there, the support of Pascal de Sutter, psychologist and sexologist, was very beneficial to me during and after the adventure.

I learned to let go, to open up more easily to men and, thanks to this, among other things, I am today a fulfilled woman and mother!

(Mélodie gave birth to little Aglaé last December, editor's note).

Would you advise a loved one to participate in the show?

I would not go so far as to recommend the show but I am transparent with those who tell me of their potential interest in participating in the show.

This was the case for Yannick, a participant the following season, who had contacted me so that I could answer his questions.

I highlight the atypical aspect and the exceptional character of the show but I also warn them about the editing of the show and the fact that you have to be prepared for any eventuality.

If you had to do it again, would you take part?

I assume that if this experience came my way, it is not by chance.

Just for what it was able to bring me from a personal development point of view, I wouldn't hesitate for a single second to do it again.
