The HBO adaptation
by Craig Mazin
and
Neil Druckmann's post-apocalyptic game
The Last of Us
drew a huge audience for the cable network and was hailed as
the first truly "great" series
based on a video game.
We are still recovering from the incredible journey that the first season of
The Last of Us
meant , with
Pedro Pascal
and Bella Ramsey, who knew how to adapt the future of the first video game, when there was already talk of a sequel.
Shipment is already in its second season and the heartbreaking ending to the first part only raised expectations for what was to come.
The two showrunners didn't reveal much about the creative plans for
Season 2
, but anyone who has played
The Last of Us Part II
can find out where the series would be headed next.
The sequel was just as acclaimed as the game that preceded it, so Mazin and Druckmann will have plenty of source material to draw from, with fiction in mind.

Although only two The Last of Us
games have been released
, both showrunners believe the series can last much longer.
Players who had fun with
Part II
will know that the second installment ends up being "open ended" enough to imply that more games are coming as well.
"There will be more"
As Mazin declared to the specialized media
Deadline
, however, "there will be more", apart from the announced second part.
"Our plan is to do it not just for one more season, but we should think long term," he said.
Mazin's remarks echo similar comments he made in a recent interview with
IndieWire
, where he explained that while he and Druckmann were always focused on making
Season 1
the best it could be, in truth they were "extremely aware" that this was going to serve as the initial kick to prepare sequels and prequels, in short
"future seasons".
Born in Chile, naturalized American, Pedro Pascal broke it in the series.
Craig Mazin said a few weeks ago that
Season 2
of
The Last of Us
will add "more infected."
After all, many fans who played video games missed the fierce fights against those infected.
Part of the public grumbled through their social networks and those responsible for the series warned that they had to modify what comes in this regard, contemplating that claim.
"Even though we had a green light for a TV season, Neil and I felt we couldn't just do a TV season without considering what would come next," he said.
“
There's more
'The Last of Us
' to come
.
And I think the balance is not always about one episode or even one episode to another, but rather one season."
Bella Ramsey, the co-star of the HBO series.
Despite this, the creators are prudent and a few months ago, when everything was just a rumor, they hinted in an interview that they did not want to repeat the mistakes of other famous productions that "stretched the gum" too much too
much
.
Anyway, there is no great mystery: "We have no plans to tell any story beyond the adaptation of the games," the creatives abbreviated to
The Hollywood Reporter.
