The chatbot ChatGPT is already showing that artificial intelligence (AI) will completely revolutionize the world of work.

According to recent studies, employees in particular are affected by the changes.

Munich – The artificial intelligence ChatGPT can predict stock prices, do homework and program.

There is no question: AI will soon turn the world of work upside down.

ChatGPT can not only simplify our work - but in some cases also take over completely.

Study: AI could replace 300 million jobs

This is suggested by a recent study by the US bank Goldman Sachs.

According to this, up to 300 million full-time jobs worldwide could be replaced by AI - with a greater impact in industrialized than emerging or developing countries.

In the United States and Europe, up to a quarter of all work could be done entirely by AI, the bank estimates.

ChatGPT: Employees mostly affected by automation

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI and creator of ChatGPT, recently told ABC that the chatbot could "eliminate" many jobs.

This was also examined in a study by OpenAI, Open Research and the University of Pennsylvania.

The result: The jobs of employees with higher qualifications and salaries would be particularly affected by automation.

These include jobs that require programming and writing skills.

These include, among others:

  • web designer,

  • Tax consultant,

  • authors,

  • journalists,

  • Translator,

  • PR Manager,

  • financial analysts,

  • Accountant,

  • administrative staff.

The least affected by automation are occupations that require manual dexterity: These include cooks, butchers, mechanics, construction workers and bus drivers, among others.

AI: Economists expect “productivity boom”

After all, the economists of the Goldman Sachs study are of the opinion that the affected jobs will not simply be completely eliminated.

"Although the impact of AI on the labor market is likely to be significant, most jobs and industries are only partially affected by automation and are therefore more likely to be complemented by AI than replaced," the study authors said, according to CNN.

In this case, those affected could use part of their freed capacity for other, productivity-enhancing activities, according to the economists.

At the same time, new jobs would be created.

As a result, the authors expect “a productivity boom that accompanied the advent of earlier general-purpose technologies such as the electric motor and the computer”.

While ChatGPT creator Altman fears his invention will eliminate countless jobs, he added to ABC: "We can

create much better [

editor's note: jobs ].

The reason AI is developed in the first place is that it affects our lives and improves our lives and this will be the greatest technology that mankind has ever developed.” He continued: “We have to be careful here.

I think people should be happy that we're a bit afraid of it."
