Every day, Italy sees arriving on its coasts of Sicily and Calabria dozens of boats, and hundreds, even sometimes a thousand exiles.
Some achieve this directly, others have been rescued after shipwreck by NGO boats or, more frequently, by the Italian coast guard.
Because if Giorgia Meloni had promised in the campaign to erect a naval blockade to protect the borders of Italy, in fact, the priority of saving lives remains.
Since the beginning of the year, more than 33,000 exiled people have arrived on Italian shores, four times more than during the same period last year.
During the first four months of 2023, irregular entries into Europe increased by 26%.
