They have been part of the landscape since 1910 and have increased in number over the years.
A small part of the 847 cabins on the beach in Le Havre (Seine-Maritime) will be rented out for short periods.
A first.
This summer, residents of Le Havre and tourists will be able to rent twelve of them for a weekend or a week.
Brand new, they will be located near aid station n°2.
“
Designed during the emergence of the maritime baths to preserve good morals as much as to protect oneself from the freshness, [these cabins] are today an integral part of the cultural heritage of Le Havre.
“recalls the municipality on its website.
Usually, these cabins are rented for a period of six months, with a minimum price of around €300 just for the location (the tenants are then responsible for setting up their own cabin).
By making them available to passing holidaymakers, the town hall wishes to allow tourists to “
live like real Le Havres
”.
The rental rates will be known at the end of the City Council on May 15th.
They should be between €20 and €100 depending on the duration and the location (with sea view or not), according to the
Paris-Normandie
newspaper .
To try your luck, go to the Bains Maritimes office or contact them by phone (02 35 43 18 59).
But beware: “
Places are rare
”, warns the town hall.
