The kibbutz movement today (Monday) canceled the invitation of Defense Minister Yoav Galant to the memorial service for the fallen of the movement that will take place on Thursday.
Gallant was invited to speak at the ceremony, which will be held at the Kibbutz Movement Martyrs' Memorial, but several bereaved families requested that no representative from the government be present.
The representatives of the bereaved families "presented their feelings and said that inviting a government representative to the memorial ceremony for the 3,120 fallen of the Kibbutz Movement in Israel's systems and the hostilities during such a period is an injury to their feelings," the Kibbutz Movement said, adding that after a discussion, the movement also decided to comply with the families' request and waive the presence of the Minister of Defense in the ceremony

The ceremony, which will be held to mark the 50th anniversary of the Yom Kippur War and the 75th anniversary of the State of Israel, will be held at the memorial to the martyrs of the kibbutzim in Israel's systems and hostilities.
The memorial is located near the "kibbutz forest" in Menasha Park, in the center of which are eight stone tablets engraved with the names of 3120 victims from 230 kibbutzim, who fell in Israel's systems and hostilities since the beginning of kibbutz settlement in 1909.
At the ceremony, representatives of the bereaved families, the IDF Widows' Organization, the IDF, the Secretary General of the Kibbutz Movement Nir Meir and the head of the Megiddo Council Itzik Holevsky will speak.
