"
The Council of State has decided, the work can restart
", welcomed Monday Bordeaux Métropole, following the cancellation of the suspension of the driving license of the UCPA Aqua Stadium of Mérignac (Gironde).
This decision of the highest administrative court marks the end of a long legal and administrative soap opera.
The inauguration of this "
equipment of metropolitan interest
" was to take place on December 16, but was prevented at the last moment by the administrative judge.
Worried about the potential noise pollution from the outdoor slides, ten local residents had obtained from the judge the carrying out of an impact study and the suspension of the work.

The last spaces open this summer
Since February 20, the Aqua Stadium has been welcoming the public.
The interior spaces being finished at the time of the suspension of the building permit, the president of the metropolis and mayor of Mérignac, Alain Anziani (Socialist Party), indeed took the decision, despite the procedure in progress, to open a part from the establishment to the public: the indoor pools and the outdoor pool.
But although the stadium is already open, the last works could not yet be undertaken, as long as the court had not decided.
This new decision of the Council of State now acts the rejection of the procedure initiated by the residents, and therefore makes possible the resumption of the last works, which should restart from this Tuesday, welcomes Bordeaux Métropole.
"
Everything will be done with the operator (UCPA) and the builder (Eiffage) to open the last spaces to the public during the summer, in particular the car park, the plant beaches and outdoor water games", specifies
the community.
