Today (Tuesday) Israel marks the Day of Remembrance for the Holocaust and Heroism, under the theme "Jewish resistance during the Holocaust to mark the eightieth anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising", which broke out on the eve of Passover in 1943.

The Holocaust Day events will resume today at 10:00 a.m., when a two-minute siren will sound, and immediately after, the wreath-laying ceremony will begin in the Warsaw Ghetto Square at Yad Vashem.
At 11:00 a.m., the Knesset will hold the National Holocaust Remembrance Day ceremony "Everybody Has a Name", during which the names of the Holocaust victims will be read and memorial candles will be lit by Holocaust survivors.
At 1:00 p.m., the main memorial ceremony will take place in the Yazkor tent at Yad Vashem.
Towards 14:00, the broadcaster will begin the 35th March of Life, in which about ten thousand people are expected to march, including Holocaust survivors and their families, teenagers, Minister of Education Yoav Kish, US Ambassador to Israel Tom Neides and many others. This year, as every year - The participants will march from the site of the Auschwitz extermination camp to the nearby Birkenau camp.The ceremony is expected to end at 18:30.
The events of the Holocaust Remembrance Day and Heroism will end at 20:00 at the annual closing rally that will be held at the Kibbutz of the Ghetto Warriors.
During the ceremony, torches will be lit and a "followers of the nations of the world" wreath will be placed.
Supreme Court President Esther Hayut is expected to speak at the ceremony, as well as Northern Command Commander Major General Uri Gordin.

Last night the Holocaust Day events opened at 18:00, in a ceremony held at Kibbutz Yad Mordechai, in the presence of President Yitzhak Herzog, the head of the opposition Yair Lapid and the president of the World Zionist Organization Tova Dorfman.
At 20:00 the state rally began in the Warsaw Ghetto Square at Yad Vashem in the presence of Herzog, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, the heads of the security establishment and other senior officials in the political system.
The six memorial beacons in memory of the six million who perished in the Holocaust were lit this year by Reuven Bonfil (Greece), Tova Gutstein (Poland), Yip Gimelstein (Belarus), Ben Zion Reish (Romania), Malka Randal (Hungary) and Yehudit Solberg (Netherlands).
In his speech, Herzog asked to leave "these holy days, which begin tonight and end on Independence Day, above all controversy, as always - in partnership in mourning, in remembrance."
"This year is not a normal year. And this Memorial Day is not normal," Herzog said.
"This year the feelings are oppressive, the shoulders are heaving, as if testifying to the weight of the controversy that is weighing on us. I am turning to you - citizens of Israel, with a prayer that we will keep these holy days, which begin tonight and end on Independence Day, above all controversy; and let us all be united, as always - in partnership, In mourning, in memory."
