The IDF and the Ministry of Defense aimed to introduce the new service model for soldiers in regular service in May, but the close discussion in the High Court on the issue, the introduction of the conscription law in the Knesset next month and the approval of the state budget forced them to explain already now what the new model would look like, in a way that would suit the developing demographic conditions in Israel. to the risks and in a way that would be suitable for exempting yeshiva students who declared "their teachings are their art" in accordance with the law.

According to the Personnel Division, this is about strengthening the combat formation of the IDF, and in addition to this, and in accordance with the promotion of legislation that began during the time of Defense Minister Benny Gantz, a reward will be offered to those who serve longer and in more combat positions. And the longer and closer the reserve will be, the higher the reward will be.

Fighters in elite volunteer units, such as the Commando Brigade, the 13th Fleet and the Defense Forces Patrol, will serve a period of 36 months (3 years): 24 months in duty, four months with additional compensation, four months with additional compensation and another four months with improved compensation. The IDF said that starting from the 25th month of service, a significant increase will be given to the monthly salary, in addition to allowances improved existence.

The IDF admits that an attempt to integrate ultra-Orthodox in the IDF has failed since an average of 1,000 ultra-Orthodox recruits every year.

At the same time, the IDF continues to develop recruitment routes for ultra-Orthodox who would like to serve in the IDF.

Even after the amendment of the law, the IDF demands that draft orders be sent to every young man who reaches the age of 18, including ultra-Orthodox, even if they receive an exemption in the future. The IDF is not ready to express an opinion regarding the exemption age, which is expected to be lowered from 26, but they say they will not object to it being lowered to 23 , so that thousands of yeshiva students can enter the job market sooner.

According to the IDF, the risk includes the erosion of motivation to fight, the formation of inequality between the soldiers in the various formations, and the assessment that the development of the adapted model will make it difficult to return to the periods of service used today. The IDF makes it clear that there is an effective response to the ways of dealing with the risks.
