Munich S-Bahn commuters have to stay strong on Friday: A widespread strike could make it difficult for them to get to work.

Munich – On Friday (April 21) there will be a strike at Deutsche Bahn – nationwide.

For Munich and Nuremberg, the widespread work stoppage has very concrete consequences.

The S-Bahn in the two Bavarian cities should also be affected, as reported by

Bayerischer Rundfunk,

citing negotiating circles.

S-Bahn Munich also affected by strike: EVG announces press conference

The strikes in local and long-distance transport should last from the start of operations until 11 a.m., and their consequences will be felt into the afternoon.

There was initially no official confirmation, but the railway and transport union (EVG) held a press conference for Wednesday morning.

The railway also wants to comment promptly.

According to the invitation to the EVG statement, employers “who still think they can ignore the demands of employees” must be put under further pressure.

In the current negotiations, the parties are still far apart: the EVG is demanding twelve percent (with a one-year term) more wages for its employees.

An offer from the railways provides five percent more and one-off payments of up to 2500 euros.

It was not until the end of March that a “mega strike” paralyzed the state capital, including the subway, bus and tram.

That's how it was in Munich at the time.
