Geretsried – According to the police, the reason for the deflagration, which reportedly occurred around 3 p.m. on Thursday in a production hall of the Rudolf Chemie company in Geretsried, “has not yet been conclusively clarified”.

Accident in chemical companies: "Never a danger to the population"

"There was never any danger to the population or the environment, since the accident occurred inside a closed building with no emissions," a spokesman for the Geretsried police force emphasized to our newspaper.

According to Stefan Kießkalt, spokesman for the district fire inspection, there was a deflagration at a transfer plant during production work.

The company on Altvaterstrasse, which celebrated its 100th birthday last year, manufactures textile auxiliaries and specialty chemicals.

The accident victim was able to leave the hospital in the evening

According to Kießkalt, colleagues of the accident victim took the injured person under an emergency shower and then undressed him "to free him from the chemicals, as is provided for in the company's internal procedures for such incidents".

In addition, the employees immediately made an emergency call.

"According to the specifications for an incident operation, these measures were exemplary and comprehensive," summed up the spokesman for the district fire inspection.

Shortly after the incident, the company set up a crisis management team that “was in close contact with representatives of the fire brigade, rescue service and police”.

According to Kießkalt, the employee injured in the accident was able to leave the hospital early Thursday evening.

The cooperation between all organizations and the company's crisis management team, as stipulated in the incident plan, proved to be very positive.

Regular joint exercises and inspections were able to contribute to a positive deployment process.

After analyzing the substances that had reacted with each other during the deflagration, the fire brigade cleaned the production hall.

"The waste water was collected in extinguishing water retention basins and is being examined by the Rudolf company," reports Kießkalt.

His conclusion: "The cooperation between all organizations and the company's crisis management team, as stipulated in the accident plan, proved to be very positive."
