Sony announces its first acquisition of 2023: Firewalk Studios, a small indie studio from Washington that becomes the 20th studio to join the SIE family of exclusive keys.
The official website stated that Firewalk has already started working on intellectual property (IP) and a new multiplayer game.
The collaboration on the game in question with Firewalk Studios was originally announced about two years ago, and Sony seems to have been very pleased with the results.
The website stated that the studio pleasantly surprised them with their creativity and innovation, and that they are excited for the gaming experiences that the new purchase will bring to gamers.
Firewalk Studios was founded in 2018 as part of the indie group ProbablyMonsters, which set its sights on developing Triple Eye games for the web.
In his team you can find key people who worked on series such as Guitar Hero, Bioshock Infinite, Mass Effect and Apex Legends.
Last year Sony acquired several companies to try to open itself up to new target audiences.
It acquired eSports platform Repeat.gg, and mobile developer Savage Game.
Mobile is an area that Sony plans to invest more in in the future, just like multiplayer.
She also added 3 more "traditional" keys to the family: the first is Haven Studios, which is led by Jade Raymond - the creator of the Assassin's Creed and Watch Dogs games.
The other developer is Valkyrie Entertainment, which helped Santa Monica develop God of War Ragnarok.
The third and perhaps the most surprising is Bungie - the developer responsible for the original Halo series.
