Mined by drug trafficking, the sensitive district of Les Moulins, in Nice, has been at the heart of local news for several weeks.
Fearing a Marseille-style drift, several elected officials and political figures from the Maralpine region urged the Minister of the Interior to deploy heavy artillery to stem a scourge that is eating away at the lives of local residents.
If Éric Ciotti, close to Gérald Darmanin, boasts regularly of meeting the Beauvau tenant to talk about Les Moulins, this is not the case with his best enemy, the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi.
In an interview with

on April 11, the city councilor charges the government, considering that it “
does not assume its sovereign responsibility.
"And to press:
" I tell myself that we are being made fun of.
Words very badly received by the representative of the State in the Alpes-Maritimes, the prefect Bernard Gonzalez.
“
I don't make fun of anyone!
“, he replied the next day, during an improvised police operation at Les Moulins.

Residents are not necessarily aware of the work being done.
If their plight is real, so is our constant action.
Benoît Huber, the chief of staff of the prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes
In the process, the prefect decided to set up a weekly working meeting devoted specifically to the fight against delinquency in the Moulins district and more particularly against drug trafficking.
In charge of taking stock of the actions carried out during the past week and examining the evolution of delinquency, this operational meeting in which the city of Nice and the national police take part - and to which the public prosecutor is also invited -, must also make it possible to decide on "
the permanent adaptation of the means
" and the development
of "structured actions to fight against drug networks
", indicates the prefecture.
In addition, these weekly briefings aim to coordinate the implementation of joint operations between mixed national and municipal police patrols and reinforcement, if necessary, from the CRS and the intervention company.
Finally, it is a question of deciding on the legal actions to be taken “
for long-term results
”.

Several anti-rodeo operations
“We saw it clearly during the
public meeting at Les Moulins
, the inhabitants are not aware of the work that is being done.
If their distress is real, our constant action is just as much
,” comments Benoît Huber, the prefect's chief of staff.
“This weekly meeting therefore plays this role of communication, in addition to setting common objectives between the various actors.
By working in a more coordinated and structured way, the actions of each are more targeted on this district.”
Thus, a report on the week of April 10 to 17 was drawn on Monday during the first consultation.
Over this period, 224 people were checked in the Moulins district by police officers from the Sûreté départementale, 36 arrested and 3 imprisoned.
11 violations of the legislation on foreigners were also noted.
Regarding narcotics seizures, 6.7 kilos of cannabis were seized, 90 grams of grass and 535.9 grams of cocaine as well as 17,098 euros in cash.
The CRS mobilized in the district, meanwhile, arrested 26 individuals and distributed 5 fixed criminal fines for narcotics.
During the same week, several anti-urban rodeo operations were carried out, resulting in the control of 30 people and 27 vehicles.
Finally, 51 halls of buildings - places very frequented even squatted by drug traffickers - were visited by the agents of the Security.
