From now on, the special purpose association also hunts speed offenders in Irschenberg

At today's Friday Blitzmarathon, motorists are particularly required to be careful not to exceed the prescribed speed.

In Irschenberg, increased caution is now advisable.

– The reason: As a member of the Zweckverband (ZV) Municipal Services Oberland, the community not only monitors stationary traffic, but also moving traffic from now on.

As Mayor Klaus Meixner (CSU) reported at the most recent meeting of the municipal council, the municipality has selected three areas in the municipal area for which it wants to commission controls.

The aim is to increase road safety.

Simply setting up a speed camera at random is not possible, Meixner reported: "We first had to clarify this with the police and authorities." But now everything is settled.

The inspection hour at the ZV costs around 180 euros.

The municipality has to book at least five hours per month, so that the monthly costs come to around 1000 euros, Meixner added.

In return, the municipality receives the income from the speed violations.

The administration does not want to make known which three places the municipality has chosen for traffic monitoring.

"We have agreed internally not to publish this," explains building official Michael Fellner when asked by our newspaper.

However, one location is at the kindergarten, as Meixner revealed during the meeting.

Special-purpose association flashes on its own

And another spot is known: for controls that the special purpose association carries out on its own without a municipal order, the turnoff to Auerschmied on the B 472 west of the district of Schwaig is planned.

There, a few weeks ago, the mobile machine flashed across the junction.

According to Meixner, the lightning trailer is used for the ZV's own checks, which then work on its own account.

That means: The income then goes completely to the association, which in turn uses it to cover its costs.

According to Meixner, surpluses are then distributed to the member municipalities.
