Minister Mai Golan to MK Merav Ben Ari: "Your croaking bothers me" (Knesset Channel)
Today (Thursday), Minister Mai Golan commented in a tweet in English on her candidacy for the position of consul in New York, and wrote that "I want to assure everyone that if I am appointed, I will 100% represent the 'mainstream' policies of Prime Minister Netanyahu and of the Likud party to which I belong. I am committed Completely for the unity of the Jewish people, and this is exactly the policy I will follow. If I believe, I will work with the leaders of all Jewish organizations - as part of the effort to strengthen the great partnership between Israel and the American Jewish communities."
Golan's tweet comes amid concern and anger among the leadership of the Jewish organizations in New York since it became known yesterday about the offer she received from the prime minister to be appointed to the position of consul in the city.
According to senior officials in the Jewish community, the news of Golan's appointment arouses "anxiety and concern" in view of her extreme attitudes and statements towards blacks, infiltrators and leftists, and Golan's tweet was intended to calm the anger in the Jewish organizations.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's office confirmed that he offered Golan to be appointed to the position in place of Asaf Zamir, who resigned from his position.
Golan, who serves as an official in the Prime Minister's Office, is supposed to take over a new office established for her - the Office for the Advancement of the Status of Women.
However, Netanyahu recently offered her the position of consul general in New York, according to an official statement from Likud "due to her excellent communication skills in English."

Golan is considered one of the most extreme and outspoken members of the Knesset in Likud, while the consul in New York is mainly entrusted with the relations with the Jewish community in the city, which is known for its liberal tendency and character as well as the connection with all the major Jewish organizations in the United States.
Likud officials estimated that the reason Netanyahu offered Golan the consular post in New York was to vacate the Ministry for the Advancement of the Status of Women and to appoint Minister of Information Galit Distal Atabrian in her place.
Later, according to Likud's assessment, Netanyahu may also suggest that Knesset member Danny Danon be appointed instead of Distel Atbarian to the Ministry of Information.
Danon is the only Likud official left without a position in the government and the Knesset, and ahead of the votes on the state budget at the end of next month, Netanyahu wants to stabilize the coalition.
