Munich – Many beer gardens are currently still closed.

But for the weekend in Munich, a whopping 21 degrees and sunshine are imminent.

Perfect weather to finally enjoy the Mass under the open sky again.

The tz.de editorial team therefore asked around among the most popular beer gardens in Munich: Who will be open from Friday, April 21st?

And how much does a liter of beer currently cost?

Here is an overview of central addresses such as the Augustiner-Keller, the Royal Deer Garden, the Wirtshaus am Bavariapark and the beer gardens at the Viktualienmarkt and the Chinese Tower.

Beer gardens in Munich: Hirschgarten is planning full operation from the weekend

"You can always sit outside with us," says Thomas Fesenmair, innkeeper in the Königliches Hirschgarten, the largest beer garden in Munich.

Visitors who don't mind the wet and cold weather can already pick up their beer from the inn and sit under the awning.

So far, however, the outdoor area, which has space for over 8,000 people, has only been open to a limited extent.

The outdoor gastronomy in the self-service area was not yet in operation.

"To be honest, that's pretty disappointing," admits Fesenmair.

But that should change for the weekend: the weather service

wetter.de

is already announcing up to 17 degrees for Friday, even up to 21 degrees for Saturday and there should still be a pleasant 18 degrees on Sunday.

In the Hirschgarten, the Maß Augustiner Hell can then be enjoyed for 8.10 euros in the self-service area and for 8.40 euros in the serviced area.

The price has remained the same compared to last year, assures Fesenmair.

"Due to inflation, we didn't make any price increases," he says. He only recently had to adjust the price of wheat beer a bit.

Beer and food to take away even when it rains: Chinese Tower in the English Garden

In the beer garden at the Chinese Tower in the English Garden, visitors have to pay a little more: 5.30 euros for a half beer and a whopping 10.20 euros for the Hofbräu beer.

"As is well known, all food prices have risen in recent years," Maria Pinzger from Haberl Gastronomy replies to an email inquiry.

That already started during the pandemic.

"Of course you notice that, but of course we don't pass everything on to our guests.

And the beer prices are set by the breweries.”

The advantage of the Chinese Tower: If it rains and the beer garden is closed, the beer garden kiosk is still open.

Here you can quickly pick up a beer or a snack to have ready for a walk through the English Garden.

Prices at the Augustiner-Keller, Bavariapark and in the beer garden at the Viktualienmarkt

In the beer garden of the Augustiner-Keller, a Maß Augustiner Edelstoff costs 8.60 euros, the half beer is only available outside to a limited extent before 5 p.m. and after 10 p.m.

The Wirtshaus am Bavariapark also offers its Maß Helles from 8.60 euros, half a glass costs 4.30 euros.

Both restaurants state that their self-service area in the beer garden is currently still closed.

However, given the weather ahead, that should change over the next few days.

In the beer garden on the Viktualienmarkt, the prices have even fallen: Half a glass costs 4.90 euros in the self-service area, as landlord Dieter Hochreiter stated in an interview with the

Bild

newspaper.

In Corona times it was still a proud 5.20 euros and thus 30 cents more.

According to Hochreiter, this was due to the hygiene regulations, which allowed fewer visitors in the beer garden and at the same time required more staff such as bouncers.

At the same time, self-service was not allowed in 2021, according to Hochreiter.
