Apparently, the workspace for the police in Oberschleißheim is not enough, and a move to Lohhof is under discussion.

Unterschleißheim

– Police Inspectorate 48 is to move to Unterschleißheim.

That's what department head Stefan Schraut wants, because the rooms in Oberschleißheim are getting too small and Unterschleißheim can offer a suitable piece of land on Kreuzstrasse in the new Lohhof-Süd building area.

The Free State is currently examining whether a new building is an option.

Unterschleißheim's mayor Christoph Böck (SPD) would welcome this: All three municipalities in the service area can be easily reached from Kreuzstrasse, he emphasized at the citizens' meeting before Schraut reported on the security situation in Unterschleißheim.

Fewer crimes despite increased numbers

The number of missions has increased again after the pandemic.

It is gratifying, however, that there are fewer crimes.

However, the number of traffic accidents has increased.

The police were called to a total of 7765 operations in their area of responsibility in Garching, Oberschleißheim and Unterschleißheim (2012: 6558).

In 43 percent of all cases, the officials drove to Unterschleißheim, the largest of the three municipalities.

Traffic accidents (1396) were the reason for most of the deployments, other causes: 339 dispute settlements, 311 times disturbance of the peace, 249 times traffic obstructions, 129 times drunk driving.

Call center scams are a problem area

Call center fraud remains a problem area.

"Fortunately, in 99 percent of the cases, it remains with tests," said Schraut.

The business is still worthwhile for the criminals, who make a lot of calls: every year in Munich and the Munich district alone, they swindle an amount in the high double-digit millions.

"There are four to six-digit amounts flowing from the victims," said Schraut.

There were 73 cases of fraud in 2022 in the area of PI 48. Whatsapp messages have replaced shock calls as the latest scam.

What all procedures are the same: Those called are put under massive pressure and made to hand over valuables and cash to strangers.

The current Whatsapp messages also include people over 50 in the target group.

The message is usually: "Hello mom, this is my new phone number." Shortly afterwards, money is asked for.

Messages from supposed daughter

The guests at the citizens' meeting sat up and listened when Mayor Christoph Böck said that a few hours earlier he had received a similarly worded message that supposedly came from his 17-year-old daughter.

"It's best not to answer at all," he warned.

Ten percent violent crime

The trend in criminal offenses is falling: in the area of PI 48 there were 2045 criminal offenses in the previous year (2005: 2700), 916 of them in Unterschleißheim (2005: 1250).

Violent crimes make up ten percent, with a negligibly small proportion being committed in public spaces.

Most assaults happened in the home between people who know each other.

PI 48 recorded 525 traffic accidents in 2022 (2021: 420).

80 people were injured in a traffic accident in 2022, including 40 cyclists.

"The long-term curve for traffic accidents is relatively constant," says Schraut, although the population and traffic are increasing and 850 vehicles are now registered in the district per 1,000 inhabitants: "There is a trend towards third and fourth cars." The average speed in According to the ADAC, cities are 26 km/h.

"You can almost buy a bike there."

Courses offered by the police:

In May, June and July, the PI offers 48 prevention courses on correct behavior in dangerous situations.

They take place in the office in Oberschleißheim, Hofkurat-Diehl-Straße 9, registration via: 089/ 31 564-0.
