- "The interim balance is not good at all, we measured six offenses after only 40 minutes." Michael Jahn, head of operations at the police speed camera marathon on State Road 2057 near Zellsee/Wessobrunn, sounds sober.

Precisely because the Bavaria-wide campaign had been widely announced, he was surprised by the large number of violations.

A motorist was even flashed at 108 km/h, 70 km/h are allowed on the state road at the junction in the direction of Forst.

He now faces a fine of 200 euros and a point in Flensburg.

The junction at Zellsee was not chosen at random.

It was considered an accident black spot.

However, since the speed limit was reduced from 100 to 70 km/h around 15 months ago, the situation has improved significantly: there have been no more accidents.

A total of 15 speed violations

The number of violations on Friday (measured between 9.30 and 11.30 a.m. in the direction of Weilheim) would probably have been even higher if the police had not only punished speeding from 80 km/h.

The clear, downhill road tempts you to drive fast, says Jahn.

A total of 15 drivers who were more than ten km/h too fast were flashed in the two hours.

Police Chief Inspector Jahn is convinced that the action makes sense.

Drivers would be sensitized to stick to the specified speed limit.

He cannot say whether the campaign will also lead to a lasting improvement in traffic morale.

"At least for the drivers who had to pay a fine, I think so." Incidentally, the most common reason given for speeding was: "I was stressed."

Overall, the police measured the speed of drivers at 20 locations in the district.

The speed camera marathon ended at six o'clock on Saturday morning.
