Rottenbuch borders on the Staffelsee West wolf area.

The municipal council therefore wants to take a stand - following the example of the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Rottenbuch

- The sightings are increasing, meanwhile there is also an official wolf area in the neighboring district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen with the area "Staffelsee West".

Its district administrator Anton Speer reacted in March, submitting an application to the government of Upper Bavaria for the removal of wolves.

The district council and many communities in Garmisch-Partenkirchen supported the request with resolutions.

In Weilheim-Schongau, too, committees should take a stand on the subject, says Mathias Bräu (Schönberger voter community), who spoke in the Rottenbuch municipal council under the "Current" item on the agenda.

One member is already in favor of removal

"We border on the wolf area," said Bräu, who is a farmer and chairman of the Schönberg hunting association.

In these functions, "I'm for the removal," confessed the Schönberger.

"We have to do something to protect our small farms and our culture." Bräu therefore asked for the topic to be put on the agenda for the May meeting.

He found open ears with Mayor Markus Bader.

"My goal is that we do the same thing in our district as in Garmisch-Partenkirchen," he said - so that the district administrator, district council and communities take a stand.

Bader would like to invite an expert to the municipal council for the meeting in May.

"You shouldn't decide something like this on gut feeling."

people worried

In the meantime, in the wolf area itself, there have not only been concerns about agriculture.

Some also fear that the wolf could become dangerous to humans.

The forest kindergartens in Bad Kohlgrub and Oberammergau and an expert see the situation as relaxed.
