Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu canceled his speech this evening (Sunday) at the GA conference of the North American Jewish Federations at the Tel Aviv Exhibition Center.

This, in the background of the preparation of protest demonstrators against the legal revolution for disruptions and disturbances at the conference.

Officials in the Prime Minister's Office say that they informed the conference organizers of the Prime Minister's absence already last week, and that the reason is due to scheduling considerations in view of the preparations for the Memorial and Independence Day ceremonies.

The protest organizations against the legal revolution prepared a host of disruptions and protests for the conference.

Yesterday, one of the participants of the conference, Sheila Kaplan from the USA, spoke at Kaplan, and delegations of protest activists held an informational activity in the hotels along the Tel Aviv beach where the members of the Jewish federations who came to Israel for the conference stay and encouraged them to join the protest. The protest organizations suspect that this is a diversionary exercise and therefore do not intend to at this stage to cancel the planned activity.

Last night, Justice Minister Yariv Levin called on right-wing voters and his supporters to show up at the demonstration of support on Thursday, demanding the continued promotion of the legal revolution. This, after the Prime Minister decided at the end of March to suspend the promotion of the reform by the Minister of Justice, despite his opposition, in order to reach an agreement broad through dialogue.

In a post he posted on social media, Levin wrote: "On Thursday at 19:00 we will all go to Jerusalem to stand between the Knesset building and the Supreme Court building and say with a force like no other: the people demand legal reform. Our voice is equal and the mandate received by the right-wing government must be realized."

"I will be there, and I call on each and every one not to stay at home. Come. Protest. Influence. Change," wrote the Minister of Justice.

He will not come to the conference of the Jewish Federations.

Yesterday there were demonstrations across the country for the 16th week.

According to estimates, at the height of the evening, 165,000 protesters arrived.

The demonstrations were held against the background of the controversy surrounding the presence of government ministers at the cemeteries on Memorial Day this coming Tuesday.

At the demonstration on Kaplan Street in Tel Aviv, a memorial display of bereaved families was set up, and in the Bhima Square the Israeli flag was lowered to half-mast before the march left Bhima Square.

After the protest rally, dozens of protesters tried to go down to Ayalon North in the Arlozorov Interchange area, where they encountered riot police and police.

The police announced on the spot that "anyone who doesn't go up, will be arrested."

The protesters were then dispersed from the scene.
