Children's rooms, shared accommodation, dilapidated train houses.

The kibbutz was and still is accompanied by many stigmas, but what was relevant in the past has long been forgotten in 2023.

"Today's kibbutzim are light years away from those kibbutz rooms of the past," explains interior designer Adi Klein from Studio Dolo, who lives in a community extension in Kibbutz Sherid.

According to her, "On the one hand, the kibbutzim underwent privatization, which requires renovation. On the other hand, in light of the lack of space in the kibbutzim themselves, the expansions have become popular, they house the next generation of kibbutzniks and at the same time bring in new people from outside, those who want to gain quality of life, community life, higher education, A rural environment, and on the other hand, they don't give up a beautiful and aesthetic house. Relative to the kibbutz, these are projects with substantial budgets, steep carpentry, furniture details, entrusted planning, plenty of materials and details."

Yanon Ben David, a member of Moshav Natur and owner of an architecture, planning and design office, adds, "The kibbutz has changed its character. The new residents want to create pampering spaces, ones that correspond with the outside and bring the view inside, but it is important to them a house that preserves the family feeling, one that does not break into the spaces The commons, an intimate corner. The building style is not repetitive or egalitarian as it was in the past. The house expresses its occupants. Everyone brings their inner world through the house, and the sky is the limit."

Ben David points out that "the awakening of the kibbutzim is reflected throughout the country. People are drawn to expansions in kibbutzim and open spaces. The price of land in a kibbutz, whether it is in Sharon or in the north, will rise significantly less than land of a similar size in urban cities. Moreover, land in kibbutzim is more available compared to land Municipal for private construction and not for towers."

Architect and interior designer Shiran Malol explains: "As someone who moved from Kiryat Motzkin to Kibbutz Yas'or, the spaces are huge, the building rights are high, the city has many restrictions, compared to the kibbutz. Land in the city is significantly more expensive than the kibbutzim across the country. Living in the kibbutz provides a quality of life, everyone can plan his house in an accurate way, choose the finishes, and create luxurious homes. The land is less expensive, so within the framework of the budget cake, a respectable budget remains for the construction and design themselves. The goal is to bring in the natural resources, to take advantage of the natural light, the air flow, basically to maximize the air and the spaces of the kibbutz and bring them inside the house."

Malol summarizes: "Since the corona virus, there has been a significant increase in land prices in the kibbutzim. Prices are still significantly lower than the prices in the city. Despite the increase, it is still possible to build very nice houses in the kibbutzim, with the same investment as an average 3-4 room apartment in the outskirts, because in the center or in Sharon the prices are significantly higher tall".
