The hospitalization of the La Rioja governor occurs a few days before the provincial elections, where Quintela will go for re-election.
In February, the president confirmed that his province will unfold the electoral calendar and vote separately from the 2023 presidential elections. Thus, the date on which the people of La Rioja will elect their governor will be next May 7.
