For four years now, judicial activity in the area of juvenile delinquency has crumbled.
The new cases registered by the French public prosecutor's offices have indeed fallen, between 2019 and 2021, from 186,564 to 169,883, i.e. a drop of almost 10%.
For the year 2022, this decline could also be confirmed, subject to a consolidation of the current figures.
This progressive collapse of the delinquency of the youngest should be a note of hope.
However, it intersects with very different realities - depending on the types of offenses and the jurisdictions - which leave legal professionals very circumspect.
The most significant decreases relate to average delinquency and low-intensity delinquency.
Indeed, crimes against property, such as theft and concealment, represented, in 2021, 24,764 cases against nearly 30,000 in 2019. The same is true for narcotics cases, which decreased by around 20% nationally, as well as attacks on authority...
