The fault of "a mass of hot and dry air coming from Africa" which, combined with strong sunshine, will cause temperatures "worthy of summer and exceptionally high for these dates".

Throughout the week, the country will therefore gradually warm up from the south.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the southern half of the Iberian Peninsula will experience temperatures exceeding 30 degrees, up to 35 on Tuesday in Murcia and Valencia and then on Wednesday in the Guadalquivir valley, the river that crosses Andalusia.

Up to 40 degrees in Andalusia

Temperatures will rise further on Thursday and Friday when 30 degrees will also affect most of the north of the country.

In the south, 35 degrees will become widespread, and the AEMET predicts up to 40 along the Guadalquivir, with tropical nights in Andalusia (when the thermometer does not fall below 20 degrees at night).
