The ceremonies will be held against the background of public criticism, also among bereaved families, towards members of the government, and the political disputes in the country.
Following the criticism, several ministers and members of the government canceled their arrival at the state ceremonies in the cemeteries.
Among other things, it was announced that the Minister of Housing Yitzhak Goldknopf and the Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports Yaakov Tesler of the Agudath Israel Party, the Minister of Information Galit Distal Atbarian of the Likud and the MK Zvika Vogel of Otzma Yehudit will be absent from the ceremonies. On the other hand, the Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gabir will attend the ceremony in Beer Sheva, despite the requests
of Dozens of bereaved families. Minister Ben Gvir emphasized that he is "determined to attend the Remembrance Day ceremony" in the city, where he claims he will deliver a "state and respectful speech". This is - one should and must go to the cemeteries on Memorial Day and honor the memory of the fallen."

In his speech yesterday at a ceremony at the Western Wall, President Yitzhak Herzog called for overcoming the divisions in the nation.
According to him, "the price of the dispute is very heavy, the siren is a wake-up call."
"I turn to you - citizens of Israel, in this holy moment, asking that we mourn our sorrows - together. Let the longing envelop us - together. May the voice of our common pain be heard at a level on this day of remembrance when it is free from disputes. When we cry for our sons and daughters. When we call for comfort, because gone".
Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Hertzi Halevi added: "I hope that on this day, which is above all time, we will be faithful to our heritage and dedicate ourselves solely to communion with the memory of the fallen and our pain at their passing. Above all time, and beyond all controversy. The dispute is, perhaps , the most beautiful gift that the Jewish people gave to humanity. The people of Israel have been carrying Hillel and Shammai for about two thousand years. In the Gemara it is said that, even though Beit Shammai and Beit Hillel were divided, they did not refrain from marrying each other. To teach you, that love and badness go hand in hand with each other to fulfill what is said:

Earlier yesterday, the ceremony was held at the "Yad Labanim" house in Jerusalem, with the participation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Speaker of the Knesset Amir Ohana, Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Leon and bereaved families. At the beginning of his remarks, Netanyahu referred to the attack on the Mahane Yehuda market in the city that happened just minutes before the ceremony began At the "Yad Labanim" house. "A few minutes ago, not far from here, another attempt was made to murder the citizens of Israel.
This attack, in this place, at this moment, reminds us that the Land of Israel and the State of Israel are bought with great suffering." The
prime minister also said: "These attacks come with the expectation that they will be able to displace us from here, and if they could, they would kill us all.
But they couldn't do it for us and we could do it for them.
We established a glorious country with a glorious army and a glorious police force, at a heartbreaking price."
