Charged Memorial Day: Protesters prevented Minister Gamaliel from entering the cemetery in Usafia - voila! news

Demonstrators from the Druze community, including members of bereaved families, today (Tuesday) blocked the entry of Minister Gila Gamliel to the military cemetery in Usafia.

They closed the gate to the cemetery and made it clear: "She will stay outside."

On the wall of the place were hung protest posters against the Kaminitz law, which was designed to enforce illegal construction.

Among other things, the signs read "Between funeral and funeral, the Druze are forgotten."

Before the ceremony, in front of the cemetery, stood a handful of protesters in black shirts.

The protestors threatened that "if Gamaliel enters the cemetery, we will enter with her and break into her words."

"With a hand and a half, with two fingers, we will stop her. We will not let her speak," explained Wala Faiz Abu Raad of Shfaram, who lost a hand and went blind in 1981.

Not only in Usafia there were protests against ministers.

In Be'er Sheva, several bereaved families broke into the speech of the Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir.

Some other bereaved families chose to arrive early, and leave before the speech.

One of those present burst into the song "The beauty of the crystal and the title".

Minister Ben Gvir called for the protesters to be allowed to shout against him: "They are patriots, I bow my head."

In his speech, Ben Gvir said that "Remembrance Day relies on Independence Day to express the great debt we owe to all of you dear families and heroes. We appreciate you, love you, embrace you with a big hug and we will always remember that we are brothers. We are sons of one nation."

At the end of his speech, he received applause from some of those present.

At Kiryat Shaul Cemetery in Tel Aviv, a bereaved brother waved his hand during the speech of Defense Minister Yoav Galant, on which was written "My brother was killed in the Yom Kippur War, my nephew was kidnapped and murdered. In their death, they ordered us to democracy - no, not to dictatorship."

At the cemetery in Holon, one of the attendees read before Minister Miri Regev's speech: "She can't wreak havoc and arrive, she insults the soldiers."

A protest was registered at the Rehovot cemetery during the speech of Minister Moshe Arbel.

At the Nachalat Yitzhak cemetery in Tel Aviv, Minister Ofir Akunis transferred his right to speak to Ninet Moonshein, the mother of Shawn Moonshein who was killed at Eitan Cliff, and received applause from those present.

In Ra'anana, bereaved families broke into the song of "Hatikva" during a speech by MK Michal Waldiger from religious Zionism. Some of those present shouted "shame", and were silenced by others.
