Fashion lovers are happy, H&M has announced their designer collaboration for 2023 and it's amazing.

This year, the Swedish clothing brand is working with iconic French fashion house Mugler.

'H&M's history of designer collaborations is legendary and pioneering.

For nearly two decades, H&M has been democratizing haute couture by offering customers around the world the opportunity to purchase specialty high-end designer luxury pieces,” H&M revealed in a press release.

Fortunately, H&M has revealed each set of individual pieces that will be available in the collection, and a release date.

The brand's annual collaborations have become a major fashion event in recent years, so to prepare you for your chance to purchase a piece of high fashion history at a fraction of the price, here's everything you need to know about H&M X Mugler.

When will the H&M X Mugler collection be released?

The date is May 11, 2023.

What will the H&M X Mugler collection be like?

"The Mugler H&M collection, created under the direction of Mugler Creative Director Casey Cadwallader, will encapsulate Mugler's unique and vibrant spirit."

What will we see?

Form-fitting bodysuits, flashes of color amid sultry dark pieces like a forest green trench coat and pops of neon bodycon pieces.

The denim is complete with body-shaping black panels, as well as a host of silver accessories, including an iconic 'M' belt that's sure to sell out.

Our favorites have are Jerry Hall's velvet mini dress, as well as leather trench coats and front seam tights.

To celebrate the collection, H&M held a show for its Mugler collection in New York, showcasing the super-close collaboration and with fashion icons Chloë Sevigny, Pamela Anderson and Charlie XCX, who all wore H&M X Mugler pieces for the evening.

The diversity of sizes was evident both on and off the runway at the party event, meaning the collection is sure to be available in multiple sizes.

Historically, Mugler's designs have a surreal and theatrical edge: think Cardi B in the 1995 'Birth Of Venus' archival gown at the 2019 Grammys, the automotive-themed 1989 'Buick' collection, or the 'wet-look'. ' by Kim Kardashian in 2019.

More recently, under Cadwallader's creative direction, we've seen an adoption of bodycon, particularly the mesh and cutout catsuits loved by Dua Lipa, Chloë Sevigny, and Kylie Jenner.

Who was Thierry Mugler?

French founder and designer Thierry Mugler (b. 1948) launched his eponymous label in 1973 and quickly gained notoriety for his playful, off-the-shoulder designs.

For the next three decades, the brand went from strength to strength, adored by the likes of Naomi Campbell and Grace Jones, and used by Demi Moore in the 1993 hit "Indecent Proposal."

Sadly, he closed the brand's ready-to-wear in 2003 and moved away from fashion, though the company and its famed perfume continued without him.

Mugler himself, thankfully, returned to fashion after working with Beyoncé on the costumes for her 2009 'I Am...World Tour'.

In 2019, he worked under the name 'House of Mugler' to create Kim Kardashian's 2019 Camp Met Gala look.

Sadly, the designer passed away at the age of 73 in January 2022, leaving behind an unforgettable legacy in the fashion industry and beyond.

What other H&M designer collaborations were there?

For nearly two decades there have been a plethora of H&M designer collaborations, but in recent years our favorites have been with Simone Rocha, Giambattista Valli and TOGA Archives.
