According to a report, Russia has started shelling positions in the tank war in Ukraine with the T-14 Armata.
"But they have not yet participated in direct attack operations," state news agency RIA quoted an insider as Reuters reported.
As a result, Russian crews on training grounds in Ukraine were subjected to combat coordination, it said.
In the past there had always been speculation that the T-14 could be used in Ukraine.
Images from December 2022 showed the tanks in action at a military training area in southern Russia.
According to an assessment by British intelligence on January 25, 2023, Russia had sent several of its latest main battle tanks to Ukraine - but in poor condition.
The Russian armed forces would have been reluctant to accept the tanks due to their miserable condition.
This emerged from a short report by the British Ministry of Defence.
As Reuters reported, citing RIA, the tanks were equipped with additional protection on their planks.

The T-14 is considered to be the most modern main battle tank in Russia.
It has been in development since 2010.
It is intended to replace the T-90 and is the first Russian tank whose turret is unmanned.
In 2015, a prototype of the tank was stranded during the May 9 Victory Day Parade in Moscow.
"If Russia were to use the T-14, it would be primarily for propaganda purposes," the UK Defense Ministry said in January.
"Production is likely to be in the low double digits and commanders may not trust the vehicle on the battlefield."
