The most seriously injured protester at the end of March during the demonstration in Sainte-Soline (Deux-Sèvres) came out of a coma, but his vital prognosis remains engaged, according to a press release from his parents released on Wednesday.

According to purely clinical medical criteria, Serge came out of the coma.
This means that he half-opens his eyes but by no means that he is awake
”, write the latter, adding that “
uncertainty remains
” concerning the future of the injured, whose condition remains “
extremely fragile
”.
“
To date, it is impossible to say that Serge will recover his senses and the use of his body (his limbs and his senses, his ability to breathe and speak) or to assess the after-effects of his injury, and an infectious relapse remains to be feared.
His vital prognosis therefore remains engaged
,” say the parents, adding that “
to claim otherwise would be a pure lie
.”
Investigation into the responsibility of the gendarmes
This 32-year-old man was seriously injured in the head, by a tear gas canister, according to the family, during violent clashes between demonstrators and police on March 25 at a rally against a disputed water reservoir, which attracted between 6,000 and 30,000 people.

Another seriously injured protester, Mickaël, 34, left hospital in mid-April after coming out of a coma.
According to his family, he was hit by an LBD shot in the trachea during the violence in Sainte-Soline, which injured 200 demonstrators according to the organizers.
