The recycling island at Schulstraße 31 in Poing, which was temporarily closed due to construction work, will not come back.

Instead, a playground for the Jakl Geißel daycare center will be built there.

Poing – According to some members of the municipal council, the decision was not easy, but in the end it was unanimous: The recycling island at Schulstraße 31 in Poing-Süd, which was temporarily closed due to the construction work on the new elementary school Karl-Sittler-Straße and at the town hall, will not come back

Instead, the gravel area that is currently fallow is being used entirely for the AWO Jakl Geißel daycare center right next to it.

The entire area of 225 square meters will be converted into a free play area for the after-school care center.

With nest swing, sand play box (with shade), lawn play area, bicycle stand and a small fixed area for seating.

That's what the decision says.

And: The MVV bus stop right next to the area will get a bus shelter as part of the redesign.

Poing: bus stop gets shelter

In their speeches, Herbert Lanzl (CSU) and Peter Maier (SPD), among others, regretted on behalf of their parliamentary groups that the island of recyclable materials had to be eliminated.

But, as suggested by the municipal administration, the area was divided into a playground for a day care center and a recycling island - there wasn't enough space for that.

Ultimately, this would mean nothing whole and nothing half.

The municipal council factions decided on something whole: the playground.

"So that children have the space," said Herbert Lanzl.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Ebersberg newsletter.)

He emphasized that he was aware that a recycling island would actually be necessary in Schulstrasse - and that it had originally been promised that the container location would be reinstalled after the construction work.

But the situation has changed with the new construction of the Karl-Sittler-Strasse primary school, which means that the space for an open area for the neighboring after-school care center has been restricted.

Hence the decision against the recycling island.
