It concerns nearly 3 million households, and contributes to the purchase of supplies, equipment and clothing for the schooling of children.

The back-to-school allowance (ARS), paid to families with at least one child between the ages of 6 and 18, subject to means, was increased by 1.5% on average, or nearly 6 euros, on April 1 last, announces the direction of the legal and administrative information.

It concerns nearly 3 million households, and contributes to the purchase of supplies, equipment and clothing for the schooling of children.

The ARS is paid each year in mid-August.

The allowance had already been increased by 4% in August 2022 with the purchasing power law.

To benefit from the back-to-school allowance, it is the resources at N-2 which are taken into account, i.e. the 2021 resources of the household with regard to the ARS for the start of the 2023 school year, recalls Service Public France.

For households with a dependent child, their net taxable income must not exceed 25,775 euros, while the ceiling is 31,723 euros for families with two children and 37,671 euros for those with three.

Finally, for households with four dependent children, the ceiling is set at 43,619 euros.

With this new increase, which corresponds to approximately 6 euros per child, the allowance amounts to 398.09 euros for children aged 6 to 10, 420.06 euros for those aged 11 to 14 and 434, 60 euros for children from 15 to 18 years old.
