The Civil Guard is investigating the circumstances of the death of a person who has not yet been identified, whose skeletal remains have been found by a gardener next to a suitcase in the Malaga town of Benahavís, a white Andalusian town of almost 10,000 inhabitants.
The investigators are working to determine the date of his death, although they stress that it is still early to make an estimate, according to the sources consulted by EL PAÍS.
The researchers are now collecting information on the disappeared in different Andalusian provinces in recent years to see if their profiles can match those of the remains found.
One of the remains found is a skull with the mark of a blow to the temple, as reported by Cadena SER.
According to this station, which quotes Civil Guard investigators, the remains show signs of mummification and would correspond to a woman between the ages of 25 and 35 who would have been dead for about 10 years.
The gardener who reported the discovery found the skull at first, then other bones and what could be remains of clothing next to an urbanization in the municipality, according to sources close to the investigation.
Along with the remains was a suitcase that is now being analyzed by investigators on suspicion that the perpetrator or perpetrators of the crime were likely to use it to hide the body.
In addition, inside the suitcase there were blades from a radial saw.
The Civil Guard is carrying out a search in the area with specialized dogs in case there are more human remains.
