The ÖDP and the left remain locked out of two city council committees: in Moosburg's local parliament there was now no majority for enlarging the body.

Moosburg

- For some it was shocking, for others at least uncomfortable: AfD city councilor Gerhard-Michael Welter had achieved permanent seats in the main and building committee with a request to implement the valid case law in Bavaria on committee communities in Moosburg.

Previously, he had been disadvantaged by the formation of committee communities of other lone fighters.

At its meeting in early March, the city council had no choice but to implement the case law.

But suddenly ÖDP man Jörg Kästle and Left City Councilor Stefan John were left out.

Kästl now submitted the application to enlarge the committees from eleven to twelve members so that all parties can participate in the committees.

The application was signed by Jörg Kästl (ÖPD), Stefan John (Left), Philipp Fincke (FDP) and Michael Stanglmaier (Greens).

That was broad support – but not the majority of the city council.

Because the CSU and Free Voters saw the application critically and were then majority against the application in the 12:8 vote.

They pleaded, including Mayor Josef Dollinger (FW), not to further enlarge the committee of eleven members plus the local chief.

From concerns to a categorical no

"I can understand the motion," Dollinger said, "but I don't think it makes sense to further inflate the committees."

After all, the aim is to advise topics more effectively in smaller groups.

Jörg Kästl didn't want to speak of inflation with one more seat.

Rather, the step is justifiable because then all groups elected to the city council could get involved.

This was supported by Julian Grübl (Fresh), who also sees the enlargement of the committees as an enrichment.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

But there were also voices of categorical rejection.

Erwin Weber (CSU) calculated Jörg Kästle that the ÖDP got 3.4 percent in the last local elections and has a share of more than eight percent in the committees.

That would be a clear shift in the election result "and we have a hard time with that".

Ludwig Kieninger (FW) was even clearer: "For me it's a bit arbitrary.

As long as you have a seat, it's fine.

Now comes the whining because you're not there." Martin Pschorr (SPD) had some problems with committees that, including the mayor, comprise more than half of the city council: "With twelve seats, it's no longer a committee for me."

No reaction to the AfD Council's offer

Gerhard-Michael Welter (AfD) made the compromise offer that he did not yet have a deputy for his permanent seat in the two important committees.

This, in turn, was apparently not an issue for anyone and was not answered.

Ultimately, Kästl's application was voted on and clearly missed the majority with 8:12 votes.

As a result, the two individual city councilors, Kästl and John, remain excluded from the two large committees.
