Republican seminar: after the divisions on the pension reform, what the deputies want to say to each other

2023-04-28T20:49:53.832Z

After exposing their disagreements in broad daylight, the right-wing parliamentarians are meeting on 3rd May next.

On the right, the debates on pension reform have left deep traces and brought to light the internal divisions that are tearing Les Républicains (LR) apart.

Some are indeed not about to forget that out of 61 LR deputies, 19 voted for the cross-partisan motion of censure against the government.

Now it's time to put things straight.

And close ranks.

Thus, right-wing parliamentarians are invited to a one-day seminar on May 3 at the Maison de l'Amérique Latine (8th arrondissement of Paris).

On the program: a time for discussion on subjects such as palliative care, notably led by former minister Jean Leonetti, and the perception of work in France and in Europe.

Exchanges on “the life of the group”

Part of the afternoon will be devoted to a time of discussion on "

the life of the group

".

According to our information, 50 deputies should be present.

The parliamentarians will have, upstream, received a questionnaire, which

Le Figaro

has obtained, questioning in particular their "

view

" on "

freedom within the group on each of the texts and expression in the media of the deputies

".

At LR, we let it be known that a subject is already inevitable: the positions taken by MP Aurélien Pradié who, throughout the discussions on pensions, will have annoyed more than one within the party. .

Until the drop of water which crystallized the tensions on the right: when the deputy of Lot announced to vote the motion of censure, supported by the groups of Nupes and RN, to bring down the government.

This, while Éric Ciotti had estimated that, “

in order not to add chaos to chaos

”, “

The Republicans will not join and will not vote any motion of censure

”.

Should also be discussed the platform signed by three deputies Philippe Juvin, Nicolas Forissier and Stéphane Viry, who plead in favor of

“a prime minister LR to break the political impasse”

.

A minority line within the group and in contradiction with the party line, to this day.

"It's inevitable

," said Philippe Juvin.

We have four years ahead of us and there is no majority.

My thesis is that to save the country, you need a government agreement, cohabitation, a coalition, let's call it what you want: something that will bring together the majority party and LR.
