Traveling in business on Air France will now cost you (a little) less

2023-04-28T08:13:42.062Z

The French company is setting up a “Light” fare in business class, which certainly includes fewer advantages and services but also costs a little less.

The comfort of a business class seat, but for (a little) less.

Since April 25, Air France and KLM travelers opting for Business can select a third fare, the Light fare, alongside Standard and Flex.

A way for the two companies of the Franco-Dutch group to follow the strategy of its competitors in the Gulf.

Emirates and Qatar Airways, for example, have both created “economy” pricing within their business class where services are kept to a minimum.

Who says lower price necessarily says fewer benefits.

Customers booking a Business Light ticket do not have access to airport lounges, cannot choose their seat when booking and can only take one piece of checked baggage (32 kg maximum) instead of two.

A change that is hardly penalizing for Flying Blue Gold and Platinum members who benefit from these same advantages thanks to their status.

Another difference: the Business Light ticket is non-refundable but can be modified for a fee of €300 and a possible fare difference.

On the other hand, SkyPriority (priority check-in and boarding) is maintained.

100 € less compared to the Business Standard

The Business Light fare is generally offered at €100 less than the Business Standard fare (here on a Paris - Rio de Janeiro flight).

According to our simulations, the price difference between the Light tariff and the Standard tariff is €100 to €150.

The arrival of low-cost companies on transatlantic routes, such as Norwegian in 2016, had already prompted Air France to create a Light fare in economy class.

This does not allow the exchange or the cancellation of the ticket and does not entitle you to any baggage in the hold.

So many sacrifices that lower the price of your ticket.
