Former vice president
Amado Boudou
became involved in the cold war that
Sergio Massa is maintaining against the president of the Central Bank, Miguel Pesce
.
The also former Minister of Economy crossed the head of the monetary authority for the sharp rise in interest rates that he carried out this week from the entity to try to contain the escalation of inflation and the impact on prices of the increase in the blue dollar.
But there was also criticism
of the minister for the multiplicity of dollar prices
.
After defining the economic situation in Argentina as
"a real tragedy",
Cristina Kirchner, convicted of corruption and spoiled child, stated in statements to
FuturoRock
that today "
the main problem is inflation
because it is what
does the most damage to the
whole of the population".
The CPI for March marked a price rise of 7.7% and the figure for April is expected to be at a similar or even higher number.
The rates double the promises of Sergio Massa
months ago, who assured that by this time Argentina would have an inflation rate close to 3%.
Given this scenario and the rise of the blue dollar, which in the week was close to $500 to later cut the rise and end on Friday at $469, the Central Bank ordered two strong interest rate hikes in the last ten days to 91% to fixed terms.
On this measure taken from the entity headed by Pesce, Boudou considered that
"
the interest rate is one
of the most phenomenal mechanisms, in the bad sense of the word
, to sustain inflation."
Asked if it seemed to him that the rate hike was an inflationary measure, the former vice president assured:
“Clearly.
It is inflationary and recessive”.
Amado Boudou shared praise and some criticism against Sergio Massa
On the other hand, Boudou agreed with Cristina Kirchner, who had argued last Thursday in La Plata that inflation is due to the agreement with the IMF.
"The agreements with the fund are inflationary,"
said the former Minister of Economy.
He also took the opportunity to criticize
Martín Guzmán
by arguing that when he came to the Government "instead of modifying many of the parameters and the sense of the functioning of the economy, what he does is that issues of macrismo institutionalize them, for example the agreement with the bottom".
Praise and criticism from Amado Boudou to Sergio Massa for differentiated dollars
Just as he joined the rivalry that Massa maintains against Pesce,
Boudou was also in charge of distributing criticism against the Tigrense
for some measures promoted that bear the stamp of his management at the Palacio de Hacienda.
"Massa is from politics that, ultimately,
his terminal is the votes of the Argentine people, not an academic place or power that is not here
," said the former official convicted of corruption in a comparison with Guzmán.
However, he clarified:
"
There you have a very important change beyond the fact that it
does not coincide with many of the things he does
. "
Next, he was in charge of listing some issues that he considered were well addressed by Massa when he landed in Economy.
“The first issue that he addressed well was when he said 'we need dollars for the Central Bank,'” the explanation began.
"The second issue,
resisting a devaluation
that is requested and they tried to force it from sectors that have concentrated a profit from the growth of Argentina," he said.
On this point, he stressed that it is not just about the opposition or the export sector, but
"the adviser [Antonio] Aracre himself was promoting a devaluation."

When referring to the points with
which he does not agree with Massa,
he focused on
differentiated dollars for different sectors
so that they can access foreign currency at a preferential price.
“It seemed like they were measures to strengthen reserves, but
this did not happen
for various reasons and in reality
we are witnessing a kind of one-time dollar differential
that is happening over and over again,” Boudou said.
And he added: "That is also leading to
a not very positive dynamic
, but there is an attempt, luckily, to force the devaluation or, in apolitical terms, a kind of market coup against the minister's policies."
In turn, he reiterated that raising interest rates "is not a good measure because you are not going to solve
the speculative problem
of those who claim to have dollars."
Finally, he proposed looking for "more structural measures, although the political moment is,
it is supposed to be weak
."
“In moments of weakness, measures can be taken that become strengths,” he added.
