The worst fear of celebrities who parade and pose on the red carpet of the Met Gala 2023 came true:
two celebrities wore the same dress
.
Of course, in a different color.
The displeasure in this case was taken by the actress Olivia Wilde and the film director and editor of Vogue in China
Margaret Zhang
.
Both arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York with the
violin dress
designed by Karl Lagerfeld for Chloé SS 1983. Wilde's, white;
Zhang's, black.

Both wore the Lagerfeld outfit because this year Vogue organized the Met Gala in tribute to the German fashion designer who died in 2019.
Zhang and Wilde used the same Lagerfeld design.

The reactions
As expected, on Twitter they echoed the misunderstanding?
and the social network was filled with comparative photos.
Olivia or Margaret?
White or black?
"Wearing the same dress as someone else at a social event is horrible," one person wrote for example.
"Wow, we hadn't seen this before. Two celebrities repeating dresses: Margaret Zhang and Olivia Wilde. Let's be honest, how cool does Margaret look," said another user.
"She (Margaret Zhang) is using the same as Olivia Wilde to achieve it as 8 times better, hahaha," added a third.
What is the dress code this year?
Like every year, the Met Gala has a dress code (or
dress code
).
In 2023 it is simply “
in honor of Karl
”.
Karl Lagerfeld, despite no longer being physically present with us (he died in 2019), is the protagonist of the celebration.
The event revolves around his work and legacy under the name "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty".
There is also an exhibition that has dozens of his clothes and unpublished sketches.
The German couturier stood out in the second half of the 20th century for his work for renowned fashion houses, such as Balmain, Chloé, Fendi, Chanel and his namesake brand.

What is the Met Gala?
Citing the Vogue website, the Met Gala is a charity event that is billed as a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute.
It is traditionally organized to mark the opening of its annual fashion exhibition.
Planned since 1995 by Wintour, the event raises eight-figure sums year after year.
The guests, who usually number around 600, stay in nearby hotels the nights before and after him.
In addition to being attended by high-profile celebrities, the Met Gala always welcomes young creatives and new industry models.

A piece of information that brings an aura of mystery: what happens at each ceremony after the red carpet is secret.
Participants are not allowed to use their phones at the event, so there are never any photos or videos of the celebration itself.
What is known is that a high-profile artist always performs in it (as Justin Bieber and Rihanna once knew how to do) and that celebrities before meeting explore the current exhibition.
