The journalist Marcela Pagano was fired from Grupo América, where she was conducting a cycle on the A24 cable signal and this Monday she published an extensive text on her social networks in which she denounced "
pressure" and censorship
.
Pagano's dismissal, according to his own version, took place on Friday night.
The event became a rumor and it was said that the driver had been fired after complaints and internal proceedings involving unions such as SiPreBa (of journalists) and SATSAID (of television workers) on accusations of mistreatment of workers against
the
driver. .
Rejecting these alleged complaints, Pagano chose to publish a text in which he explained, in his opinion, the reasons why he was "separated from Grupo América".
"After
enduring seven months of pressure
, I finally understood that it was impossible to do journalism with the one that directs that signal today," the journalist attacked and then mentioned the "director of the channel, Daniel Vila, and its current journalistic manager, Rolando Graña." .
"I never had a single problem with a partner or authority," Pagano wrote, after reviewing his 17-year career in various media.
And she countered: "To
justify the impossible in an election year
, they want to dirty my image when I am an honest and professional worker who lives on her salary."
Then the host mentioned a previous crisis of Grupo América: the separation of Viviana Canosa.
"I am aware that before this happened to me [due to her dismissal]
important figures
in journalism also suffered this censorship," she pointed out.
Pagano spoke of "voices" that "are not on the American screen due to their ways of practicing journalism" but that would be set aside with other arguments and pointed to "a habit of the current management of this station to fire people who because of
their thoughts
and opinions bother and hinder interests".
And after a general mention of cases that he did not specify, he mentioned that of the current host of LN+.
When that happened, Pagano was in charge of reading a statement on the air from Grupo América.
"The last one was Viviana Canosa, whose real reason for leaving the channel was hidden from me when I was coerced by an authority
invoking a channel lawyer (who had been my partner)
to read a press release that the channel's management wrote about the public escraches," Pagano wrote.
Canosa's departure occurred when the host aired images of an attack on the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, which had gone viral.
Pagano also slipped a gender issue.
"There is a hostile and 'overwhelming' [sic] recurrence
against women on that screen
, which several of my former and current colleagues can attest to."
Marcela Pagano denounced "explicit prohibitions on inviting" relatives of Macri, Bullrich and "non-aligned" K economists
Finally, Pagano pointed to
political reasons in his dismissal
.
He said that his separation had a "striking urgency" that coincided with an "improvement" in his "audience measurement", when he addressed economic issues, the journalist's specialty.
"Throwing me out after two years and two months of driving in full swing of the dollar and with the future in suspense of the current administration is significant," he said.
And although he clarified that he "never" received "a direct call from anyone from the Ministry of Economy" to limit his "gaze as a journalist", he pointed out what he considered
restrictions on his freedom of expression
.
"I want to tell you that my freedom to ask questions has been curtailed in the last month. I received
explicit prohibitions to invite anyone linked to Mauricio Macri, Patricia Bullrich
and Kirchnerist economists not aligned with a certain wing of the Frente de Todos policy, such as Julia Strada or Sergio Chouza", he listed.
Javier Milei, interviewed in A24 by Marcela Pagano.
The journalist linked that interview to the reasons for his dismissal.

But he went further in what he considered limitations to his coverage of economic issues.
Grupo América is owned by Vila and José Luis Manzano, who have a known
friendship
with the current minister Sergio Massa.
Another important figure in the crisis is Matías Sierra, from the channel's Institutional Relations area, who is the link
between the channel and the ruling party
, especially with figures such as Máximo Kirchner and Wado de Pedro.
"In the last few weeks
they prohibited me from putting on the plates and videographing that the dollar had risen
, I could only count on the air when it went down," Pagano said and continued: "I rebelled against this decision, which I was even notified while on the air while made an economic column".
Even so, for Pagano
the trigger for his dismissal
was an interview he did with the presidential candidate Javier Mieli.
He considered that this note, from last Wednesday, was "the straw that broke the camel's back", despite the fact that "it marked the channel's afternoon rating peak."
The libertarian - a friend of the journalist - supported her in networks and considered her separation from Grupo América "a scandal".
The journalist concluded her text with thanks to her colleagues and promising to report news about her "future job."
