In 2024, the Blue Land bus is to operate as an on-demand system in the northern district.

The Murnau municipal council has approved this project - albeit subject to specifications.

So one wishes that an inner-city line is integrated into this system.

Mayor Beuting should negotiate this with the district.

Murnau

- The formation of camps in the Murnau municipal council has been a fact since the beginning of the election period on May 1, 2020.

It can be observed on both banal and important topics.

The parliamentary group of the ÖDP/Citizens' Forum and Mayor Rolf Beuting against the majority of the committee from the CSU, Alliance 90/The Greens, More Movement, Free Voters and SPD.

The dispute is particularly evident when it comes to how local public transport in and around Murnau should be designed in the future.

On-demand bus, ring bus, blue land bus, call collection taxi, taxi - all projects that the municipal council has been racking their brains about for many months or talking about hotly.

Last but not least, the Omobi, which has been cruising through Murnau for more than two years and which, according to the wishes of the municipal council, is to be discontinued on July 1st.

Each party claims the sovereignty of truth for itself, the opposing position is dismissed as unsuitable for a solution.

Black and white thinking often occurs here.

This can be observed again last Thursday when it came to deciding whether the market town wanted to participate in the Blue Land bus.

The district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen is planning this on-demand mobility offer from November 2024 for the area north of Eschenlohe, whose main town is Murnau.

In addition to Murnau, it is to operate in Schwaigen, Ohlstadt, Uffing, Seehausen, Riegsee, Großweil, Spatzenhausen and in the communities of Eglfing and probably Obersöchering, which are already in the Weilheim-Schongau district.

The spirits separate

The Murnau local politicians have different intentions than the district councils, who approved the introduction of the Blue Country Bus on December 16, 2022.

Several Murnau residents who belong to the district committee also voted in favor.

Opinions differed on the function of the on-demand bus for Murnau and the payments that Murnau should make.

While Mayor Beuting and his parliamentary group expect the Blue Land bus to replace the Omobi one-to-one in Murnau, which makes up to 200 stops in the market, "is a copy", the majority of the municipal council have other goals.

The dial-a-bus, which will include up to five vehicles, one of which will be suitable for the disabled, will primarily provide feeder services and better connect the surrounding communities to Murnau.

For the market itself, you have in mind a ring bus system with a timetable and stops,

as practiced in Weilheim, for example.

"We want a bus," says CSU man Josef Bierling emphatically.

That was decided in the special session on March 27th.

"The blue country bus must be complementary to the regular bus," says Rudolf Utzschneider, also CSU.

ÖDP/Bürgerforum continues to reject this construct.

In bulk and bow.

"The bus will not work," believes parliamentary group co-chairman Wolfgang Küpper.

"He will fail because of the finances," he says in an interview with the Tagblatt.

The Omobi causes a deficit of around 90,000 euros per year.

The losses incurred by a regular bus would be significantly higher.

"Experts estimate that the deficit with 300 users per day adds up to around 340,000 euros." According to Küpper, the district office and the Bavarian state government have positioned themselves very clearly as to what they want for rural areas.

"They made it very clear that they were in favor of on-demand systems," says Küpper.

Funds flowed for this.

"It's money well spent.

We simply have the better arguments on our side," he said in an interview with the Tagblatt.

The Blaues-Land-Bus is not available for free.

It causes very significant costs.

The district estimates 995,000 euros - as of February 2022. Felix Burger (SPD) - "a milkmaid bill" - and Maria Schägger (free voters) assume that the numbers are currently significantly higher.

The guess of Dr.

Michael Rapp (CSU), also Deputy District Administrator, similarly: "This amount must be questioned."

The proceeds are estimated at 650,000 euros.

They include passenger revenue (99,000) - a distance-related tariff is to be introduced, as practiced in Chiemgau and in the Rosenheim district -, funding from the Free State (358,000 euros), almost 49,000 euros come from the Weilheim-Schongau district, 143 000 euros from the Blue Land municipalities.

The bottom line is a deficit of almost 345,000 euros, for which the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen has to take responsibility.

Debate on the contribution of the Murnau market

The Murnau market should contribute 100,000 euros to the Blue Land Municipalities item.

Beuting made it clear that this was a fixed amount.

Nevertheless, a lengthy discussion ensued from this sum.

Utzschneider considered this amount to be far too high.

According to his bill, every citizen of Murnau is asked to pay eight euros, while a Seehauser or Ohlstadt resident, for example, only has to shell out three euros.

"Therefore I cannot agree to the proposed resolution."

Finally he did.

The council was unanimous on three points.

In addition, a majority ensured that an important passage was added in their interest.

Against the vote of the ÖDP/Bürgerforum and Beuting (7:15), the municipal council commissioned the mayor to “negotiate with the district that an inner-city line will be integrated into the Blue Land bus system.

The costs must be submitted to the market town council for approval”.

In addition, the Murnau market unanimously requested that responsibility for public transport be transferred to the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Chamberlain Josef Brückner had warned against doing this.

"When it is returned, we give up any possibility of exerting influence."
