On video: Rape suspect arrested in Sharon.
(Israel Police spokeswoman)
Four foreign workers from Moldova were arrested last week on suspicion of raping a woman, in her 40s, in their apartment in Ashdod.
The investigation revealed that the suspects saw the woman walking around the city drunk during Independence Day, took her to their apartment, and there they sexually assaulted her when she was unconscious.
The suspects were brought in for questioning, and their detention was extended.
Corporal Keren Toledano, the investigation and intelligence officer at the Ashdod police, told about the incident: "This is a brutal case of gang rape while taking advantage of the situation of a helpless woman, without her having any ability to defend herself against the suspects.
The bruises on the complainant's body illustrate their lack of compassion, and we are investing our utmost efforts to bring the suspects to justice."
