A French-style Black Friday: this Wednesday, May 3 marks the start of the
“French Days”
, six days of exceptional sales on electronic products, household appliances and home equipment.
From 7 a.m., promotions will be displayed online and in stores of several brands.
A boon in this period of inflation, where the French often have to postpone their purchases deemed superfluous.
The "
French Days
" will end on Tuesday, May 9 in the evening.
Still unknown to French consumers, the “ French Days
” operation
was born in 2018 at the initiative of six e-commerce brands: Boulanger, Cdiscount, Fnac-Darty, La Redoute, Rue du Commerce and Showroomprivé.
The stated objective at the time was to create an "
annual event as recurring and anticipated
" as Black Friday, the large-scale commercial operation launched in the United States and which is traditionally held in November.
The “
French Days
” thus take place every year at the beginning of May, a date which was not chosen at random.
A few weeks before the summer sales, which will begin on June 28, sales are generally struggling at this time.
For the same reasons, a second week of “
French Days
” takes place in the fall, towards the end of September.
The six brands behind this commercial operation have since been joined by other players and business should multiply in the coming days.
Some e-commerce sites already display discounts of up to -70%.
It remains to be seen whether the “
French Days
” will achieve the same success as Black Friday, from which they are inspired.
Nearly one in two French people took advantage of it last November, when inflation was already raging, increasing the number of orders by 6% over one year.
