Leicester City and Everton met last Sunday for date 34 of the
Premier League
.
The duel was not only exciting from start to finish, as two teams fighting not to be relegated to the Championship (second division of English football) faced each other, but also because a particular situation was experienced.
The Everton goalkeeper noted on his
water bottle that Leicester footballer James Maddison took 60% of his penalties to the center, while 20% to the left and another 20% to the right.
As was to be expected, the midfielder chose to kick in the middle, his favorite place, for which Pickford did not forgive him.
The great performance of the English goalkeeper achieved two things: prevented Leicester from winning the score 3-1, and, most importantly, gave his team a boost so that they could react in time and equalize the game by
2- 2 thanks to a goal from Nigerian Alex Iwobi
.
At the end of the game, Pickford, who defended England's goal during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, made reference to the moment he starred in on the pitch: "He did his homework, I knew he was going to kick like that. It was a great moment and I I'm glad I saved him because I'm here to do this. I'm trying to help the team, I'll do everything I can to do it again."
Both teams, in danger of relegation
Both Leicester and Everton are heavily committed to relegation.
The first
is in 16th place in the table with 30 points
, while the second is in
19th position with 29 points
, and is one of the clubs that would lose the category if the tournament ended today along with Nottingham Forest and Southampton.
The Liverpool team will play their next home game against Alexis Mac Allister and Facundo Buonanotte's Brighton&Hove Albion, while the Leicester side will visit Fulham.
Both matches will take place on Monday, May 8.
