This was the outcome dreaded by Lyon prostitutes.
The prefect of the Rhône, Fabienne Buccio, has issued orders prohibiting the parking of any vehicle housing a prostitution activity on about twenty streets in the Gerland district, in the 7th arrondissement of Lyon, state services said this Wednesday.
The hundred vans parked along the sports grounds of the playground, rue Jean Bouin in particular, now risk immediate impoundment.
Through the voice of the Cabiria association, the prostitutes asked for a deadline to leave the premises, while the rumor of the expulsion rustled since the last meeting in the prefecture at the beginning of April.

Little applied in normal times, the law penalizing customers had also been used several times since the beginning of the year to verbalize some of them.
Wedged between the sports fields of the plain of games and the port Édouard Herriot, the prostitutes are in the immediate vicinity of the children dismissed in the sports clubs.

This expulsion by the use of anti-parking decrees was requested by the group of Responsible Parents, whose children are registered in the sports clubs of the playground.
Taken by the municipality under previous mandates, the environmental executive at the town hall of Lyon had frozen these decrees.

Fabienne Buccio considered that the “constant” increase in prostitution activity and the “continuous” influx of customers were thus a clear violation of public peace but also of the safety of people engaged in prostitution.
“Settled in Lyon in the Gerland district, prostitution activities have for several months been causing disturbances to public peace linked to the multiplication of acts of violence (theft, extortion, threats) and the deterioration of sanitary conditions by the multiplication of abandoned waste (syringes and used condoms) in the immediate vicinity of sports equipment frequented in particular by young children”
, estimates the prefecture of the Rhône.
For their part, the prostitutes fear for their safety by being relegated outside the city.

We can understand that these women do not want to be isolated in order to be able to call their girlfriends for help in the event of aggression
