2023-05-03T13:52:13.521Z

The girl witnessed the attack on the Serbian primary school in which eight students and a security employee were killed.

"He started

shooting randomly,

first he hit the history teacher and then he kept shooting. He killed two of our friends...

I jumped on top of them so they would think I was dead

," said one of the survivors of the massacre. in a school in

Belgrade

, in Serbia.

The story is as harsh as it is descriptive.

The girl -whose testimony was published by the Nova portal- hardly finds an explanation or words to describe the dramatic situation that she had to live in her school, when

nine people died

and were riddled with bullets this Wednesday.

Eight of them, minors, like her.

There was also a murder of a security guard

.

The madness and panic was unleashed by a 14-year-old boy, also a student at that school, who decided to take out a gun and start shooting.

Local police cordoned off the area after a young man shot inside a school near the center of Belgrade.

The Serbian Ministry of Interior officially reported that there were nine deaths.

But in addition, there are

six other students who were injured, and a minor is in critical condition

.

To this bloody picture is added that a teacher (the history teacher, according to the girl) was also shot.

The seven people who were injured were taken to two hospitals in the area where they are being closely monitored.

The 14-year-old boy who carried out the massacre was arrested in the courtyard of the "Vladislav Ribnikar" school, near the center of Belgrade.

And, according to local media reports, he is a seventh grade student who used a gun that would belong to his father.

So far there is no explanation of what happened.

The Serbian media reported that the person responsible for the shooting was an exemplary student and that he also participated in several school competitions.

At this time, numerous police patrols are deployed in the area and are working to clarify the circumstances that led to the tragedy.

A police report highlights that the house of the young man who carried out the crimes was raided, but that

no signs or evidence have yet been found to explain such an attack

.

The seven wounded by firearms were referred to two hospitals in the Serbian capital.

"Because of this shooting, we should all honestly ask ourselves how we got here and if there is any turning back after reaching the point of a minor shooting to kill," said a statement issued by the Union of Education Workers of Serbia.

The union also demanded "zero tolerance for all forms of violent behavior, both by children and adults" and to strengthen gun control.

Although mass shootings are not frequent in Serbia, there are many weapons in circulation.

The closest precedent was a shooting 10 years ago, which left 13 dead, after a 60-year-old man opened fire in a town near Belgrade.
