Lula's rebuff to Gabriela Cerruti and the anger of the presidential spokesperson

2023-05-04T15:52:04.705Z

The president of Brazil not only prevented the spokesperson from entering a meeting with ministers, but also took her down from dinner with Alberto Fernández.

The spokesperson for the Presidency, Gabriela Cerruti, was again in the eye of the storm and this time it was within the framework of the brief visit that President Alberto Fernández together with the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, made to Brazil to meet with Lula Da Silva with the mission of obtaining credit facilities for companies in his country to sell to Argentina, in the midst of the lack of dollars faced by the Central Bank, with a desperate drop in reserves.

According to the journalist Roberto García, in a note published in Perfil, the President's spokeswoman had some "fights" with part of the entourage on her trip to Brazil and cited, for example, a meeting with the Minister of Social Development, Victoria

Tolosa peace

.

Apparently, the minister called Daniel Scioli's attention for including part of his family in the official delegation.

"You have to take care of yourself, if it comes out it would do you harm for the campaign," the official would have advised him, pointing out that the event could have repercussions in the press and affect his aspirations as a presidential candidate.

It was there that Cerruti intervened and told him, as if marking the pitch: "I'll take care of the media."

The friction between the minister and the spokesperson did not stop there because upon arriving in Brasilia,

Tolosa Paz was conspicuously marginalized from the photo of the entourage with the President

.

The gesture led to a discussion that forced the intervention of Alberto Fernández to attenuate the tone of voice of the officials.

But the worst was yet to come.

After the 45-minute meeting that Alberto Fernández had with his Brazilian counterpart, a dinner was scheduled between the leaders and the ministers, to which Tolosa Paz and Cerruti arrived with the same color dress.

However, the curious thing was not that but rather that Lula himself was in charge of reviewing the list of diners.

According to García, the Brazilian president read each of the names and asked:

"Who is Gabriel Cerruti?"

They quickly explained that there was a mistake and that it was the presidential spokeswoman.

The Brazilian president crossed out the last name and told him that he

"does not participate"

.

Lula explained that the first meeting was for work, just like dinner, and also warned that no link with the media was needed.

Without knowing the explanation of the Brazilian president, Cerruti took it out on the ceremonial staff, whom he blamed for being left out of the banquet.

Words or words less, from ceremonial they made the spokeswoman notice that she did not qualify as a minister for the meeting.

"I have the rank of minister," Cerruti returned furious, according to the witnesses, by the situation.

Everything led to a shouting that forced a new intervention by the President asking to close the discussion and a

"stop Gabriela, stop"

that was noted.

However, that did not stop the spokesperson who got into the ministers' work meeting and, since she was not assigned a place at the table, ended up in the second row of translators.

For that instance, no one wanted to get into new friction with the official and they let her stay in her place.

But the spokeswoman's biggest surprise was that at dinner time she saw how Lorena Scioli, the daughter of the Argentine ambassador, sat among the guests and she was left outside.

This ended up being an anecdote since the real reason for the trip ended in frustration because the Argentine entourage returned empty-handed, and only obtained Lula's commitment to ask the International Monetary Fund to remove "the knife from the neck of Argentina".
