Pensions: the National Rally files a bill to restore the legal age to 62

The initiative of the Lepenist troops joins that of the Liot group, whose similar text must be examined by the National Assembly on June 8th.

While the Constitutional Council rejected, on Wednesday, the request for a referendum of shared initiative (RIP) carried by the left on pensions, the National Rally decided to enter the game in turn.

The parliamentary group chaired by Marine Le Pen therefore tabled, on Wednesday evening, a bill providing that the legal retirement age cannot exceed 62 years, against the 64 years provided for by the reform of the executive. .

The text, modeled on the program of the double-finalist of the presidential election, also provides for a contribution period of between 40 and 42 annuities, depending on the age of entry into the labor market - against the 43 annuities provided for by reform.

“It is, first of all, to respond to the macronie who has been lying from the start by indicating that we have no project on pensions”

, comments Thomas Ménagé, RN deputy from Loiret and referent on the question, with his Var colleague Laure Lavalette.

The idea, too: to show, in accordance with what has been proclaimed for several weeks, that the nationalist party is not afraid of a return to the polls, and that its troops are ready to put the Lepenist project to the vote.

Minimal risk-taking, since, according to an Ifop poll published in

Le JDD

, only 32% of French people are currently in favor of government reform.

A text that will serve as an amendment

The filing of this bill also allows the RN to counter the little music according to which Marine Le Pen would have benefited from social anger only thanks to her discretion during parliamentary debates and popular demonstrations.

“It is also a question of showing the utopia of the RIP

, adds Thomas Ménagé, even as the RN defends the principle of a referendum of citizens' initiative (RIC).

If the left wanted to act, it was necessary to vote for the referendum motion, which they refused, when that would have stopped the text and allowed the referendum.

On June 8, the National Assembly will examine a bill tabled by the Liot group, which also aims to restore retirement at age 62.

Lucid about the persistence of a cordon sanitaire between the opposition groups and the frontist group, the RN deputies have already announced that their proposal will serve as a basis for amending Liot's text.
